We’re here with The 2008 Ford Raptor F-150 SVT. Ford special vehicle team (SVT) has put together one of the toughest and most extreme off-road racers ever come out to the factory. We’re going to go ahead and take a look at the hard work. The designer on the Raptor SVT has spent the most time tweaking and setting up the Raptor suspension. The mount points have been modified for the long-term suspension, and the Raptor gets unique upper and lower control arms.
There’s also custom Fox Racing shocks developed specifically for the raptor Fox is well known in the off-road world for creating aftermarket shock packages. You can see here this is the rear shock that was holding oil flows in here, for cooling purposes the shock also provides up to 13 inches of wheel travel on the rear at around 11 a half inches up front.

2008 Ford Raptor Review
For most aftermarket off road shocks, they use an external bypass. What you’ll see on those extra bypass shocks is your seat tubes coming off the running length of the truck, and it allows for people to manually tune the shock. That’s because there are many different trucks that the shocks put on.
Since Ford has been working with Fox Racing the entire program what they’ve done is they’ve created a patented internal bypass set up. So that you don’t have to tune the truck to go off-roading with it. It’s like that from the factory Ford also promises, but the shocks for last up to ten years or 150 thousand miles before they need to be replaced.
2008 Ford Raptor F-150 SVT Specs
The 2008 Ford Raptor has unique 17 by a half inch rims and whereas BF Goodrich all-terrain tires. When it arrives next summer, the raptor will first be available 5.4 liters v8 rated at 320-horsepower and 390-pound feet of torque. By winter 2008 you’ll be able to order the Raptor with a premium 6.2 liter v8.
This in the engine formally refer to as the boss inside the Raptor. The difference is that you find on this truck our unique instrument panel. There’s a center indicator here on the steering wheel, and the seats have been heavily bolstered the off-road running gear on the Raptors unique. It has force for the server application to uphill the second row. It has the switches to control extra lighting on the outside or aftermarket accessories, and off-road mode which disables most electronic Manning’s. This which controls the transfer case, they let you ship from two wheel drive from 4 high to 4 low, and if you pull out, it activates electronic locking rear differential.
What’s unique about this from all the trucks sold today is that Ford will let you use electronic locking rear differential when you’re two wheel drive. The last time we saw The 2008 Ford Raptor and SVT batch F150 was the ford lightning one of the ultimate performers of all time. The new Ford Raptor off-road pick up looks to be on paper. There is news that’s The Ultimate 2008 F-150 SVT Raptor offroad pickup truck will be upgraded to 6.2 liter v8-engine, 411-horsepower, and 438 pound-feet of torque, but that’s not the biggest news. Ford’s going further with the Raptor than they’ve almost ever gone before if you saw the Raptor. You’ll be able to buy a truck just like shortly Ford is going to create 50 limited edition Ford Raptor SVT race trucks.
There is a long travel suspension from Fox shocks, if you take a look at a standard Raptor, You’re moving up from about 8.5 into the real travel in a level up 150 to about eleven to the front travel. Compare that to the Raptor SVT, and now we’re all the way up to 15 into the travel. That’s almost twice as much as a standard up 150, and back we’re going from 13 inches to 18 inches. You’ll probably recognize the wheels and tires were nearly identical to the tires and wheel combination that you’ll find on the Raptor.
Our race truck, the Raptor SVT prototype that we’re taking a look at here too much it’s not quite the same car that you’ll be able to buy within next year. So there’s going to be a couple of big differences, for one thing, it’ll come from the factory with a standard built-in roll cage. Just like the race truck uses but you’re gonna have just a nice interior.
Whats important to the raptor is it electronic locking rear differential. The 2008 Ford Raptor SVT adds one more up front earlier I mentioned how the power ratings for the new 6.2 liter v8 in the Ford Raptor are going to be 411 horsepower for 934 pound-feet of torque. This Raptor SVT is going to have a 500 horsepower V8-engine straight from the factory.
