Today we catch up over the top with The 2018 Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe. This car is a V8 sports sedan, 450 kilowatts, 850 Newton meters. It’s an amazing vehicle, let’s go and give this thing a rip. The new C63 S pumps up the power and torque courtesy of its four-litre bi-turbo V8 engine. That equates to a 300-kilometre hour top speed and naught to 100 kilometers in just 3. 4 seconds. The engine in this car is just unbelievable. It’s so strong. It’s got so much power, so much torque and it hooks up so well. That’s far from all that’s new about the C 63S. There’s been massive chassis development by Mercedes Benz as well, including the swap to all paw grip. Purists would probably decry the addition of all-wheel drive to this car. Its predecessor was rear-wheel drive. But never fear, donut lovers, the C 63S has a drift mode that turns it into a rear driver at the touch of a button. It’s an important feature because it reassures us AMG still gets its petrolhead heritage and understands what its cars are meant to be about.
AMGs are loud and proud vehicles. It’s just part of their thing, it’s what they do, and the new C 63S is no exception. The C 63S has a lot of sophisticated techs and high-end gear. There’s a slew of driver assist systems that provide the limited autonomous capability. The cool widescreen cockpit borrowed from the mainstream C class sedan and multi-mode air suspension that tries to take the rough edges off the everyday driving experience. Even on its most comfortable setting, the C 63S is still a pretty harsh car.
The ride’s jolting. But the payoff comes in brilliant steering, handling, and traction, all of which make this an exceptionally memorable drive. You pay for all that excellence, of course. The C 63S will set you back a cool $239, 900 before on-road costs. Is it worth all that cash? Obviously not if you just want to commute nine to five. But if you love hard-core V8 sports sedans, then the C 63S is as good as it gets.
