The 2018 Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe is a forthcoming ultra-high performance car should go on sale sometime in January or February of 2018. The AMG C63 is already a strong performer, especially when we’re talking about something like the GLC 43 AMG, but the C63 is just bonkers.

2018 Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe Specs & Review
It’s a biturbo V8 that makes 469 horsepower with the regular coupe, as well as the SUV version. But you go to the coupe AMG C63S, and you have 503 horsepower. Besides the big giant engines, they’re also going to do some suspension tweaks, steering tweaks as well as some nice little touches on the interior, some racy stitching, and some nice. Is this really necessary? Absolutely not. But that’s not to say I don’t want to drive one.
I was lucky to drove the new Mercedes-AMG C63. At that time I’ve already known that Mercedes-AMG build a coupe version with only two doors and now, I am actually driving the C63 coupe with the S package. Which means a maximum power of 510 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Thanks to Mercedes, it only takes 3,9 seconds to reach 100 km/h.
The top speed is limited to 250 km/h, but there is something to do about it, more about that later we already know that the new Mercedes-AMG C63 is a lovely car. But I also know that I will be missing the previous 6.2-liter V8 engine. Mercedes-AMG had to replace that legendary engine; they had to be more efficient when you buy a car like this.
You need to pay all kind of taxes, the CO2 emissions of these kind of cars needed to be decreased. There is one simple solution; build a smaller engine. Mercedes-AMG still builds V8 engines; it’s now a 4.0-liter V8 but, Mercedes-AMG placed two turbos in the shape of the ‘V’.
The 4. 0-liter V8 biturbo is Mercedes-AMG’s new showpiece and that’s the right name for this engine! BMW went from a V8 engine back to a 6 cylinder engine and thus lost a lot of emotion and sound, but Mercedes-AMG still has that lovely sound.
That raw V 8 sound which makes the C 63 a very joyful car, of course, it’s a lot less raw and loud compared to the 6. 2-liter V8. But I think that Mercedes-AMG did a great job; the sound and emotion are still there I already summed up a few specifications 510 hp and a 0-100 km/h time of 3, 9 seconds. Of course that will remind you of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadri Foglio which we tested before. Yes, that’s a very similar car with similar specs but then coming from a 6 cylinder engine and at that time I would have chosen for the Alfa Romeo compared to the BMW M3 and C 63 AMG of course why? The Giulia has a manual gearbox, it’s pure, it’s Italian and it has a lot of emotion.
Now, driving the C 63, I have another opinion already when you start that V8 engine. Then you already know; this is what I want! It has emotion, great driving experience. But it also comes close to perfection.
The C 63 is very well built the finishing, the control panels, the use of materials and how it feels nothing creaks or squeaks, it’s built firmly that’s how it feels, but there is more than sound and speed.
Let’s be honest, all three cars are fast and drive good the C 63 sounds a bit better than the other cars but there is more: handling the C 63 S has 510 hp but also a great, adaptive chassis. When I put it in the sport+ mode, the exhaust valves will open up and then, everything is at its finest, everything is rigid, the engine and gearbox are awake, and then you can drive pedal to the metal in every corner, it has so much grip!
2018 Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupe Body Size
The C 63 coupe is 6 cm wider than the normal C 63 partly because of the wheels which should fit into the wheel arches. The rear wheels are 280 mm wide; you will understand that. That creates a lot of grips it uses an AMG-speedshift automatic gearbox definitely not the same.
The DCT gearbox with a double clutch, like BMW, uses so it’s not that fast, but it creates a very natural feeling. It feels very aggressive and brutal as well, but I like it; you really feel what you are doing shifting to the next gear will give you a kick in the back.
It feels like you are driving a machine and I really like that. Driving it in comfort mode is very enjoyable as well; very comfortable the gearbox relaxes and feels quietly, but when driving in race or sport+ mode, it reaches high RPM and bangs! When shifting what I also really like are the shifting paddles behind the steering wheel. You are in control and it doesn’t shift when you hit the RPM limiter.
I love it! And yes, this is also possible with a Acura NSX or BMW M2 or M3 but it just feels right when you do it with the C 63 the seats are great, the steering wheel is great. I have to say; when I could spend 150K, I would buy the C 63, and if I could choose between the sedan and the Corp, Of course, the coup because it looks more aggressive. The only thing I have left to say is; go for the AMG drivers package the speed limiter can be set to 280 km/h, only possible if you have an AMG certificate. It’s not cheap but you will get a full day of training, and it will never end at 250 km/h.
